Tripoli is the capital of Libya. Known since the 7th century BC. and the foundation of the Phoenician colony of Oea, Tripoli has become the largest city in the country and its agglomeration would include more than 2 million inhabitants. Historically centered on its port, the city has gradually turned away from the sea, leaving most of its coasts in a state of vacant land.

Though cherished by the old tripolitans' imagination, the public bus network disappeared during an unspecified period of Mu'amar Al Qadhafi's reign. If the bus stops, you do not need to go there to be able to stop an "Iveco", private minibus operating on defined lines. They stop with a sign of the hand from the side of the road, and a journey costs between 0.5 and 1 LYD, depending on the distance traveled or the time of day. To get off, shout "yamin" (right) to the driver who does not hesitate to cut off the road to the other vehicles and drop you as close as possible. The "Iveco" network consists of three nodes in the city center: on the martyr's square, on Bourguiba square and on the wasteland located to the west of the Bab El Bahar hotel. From these points, it is possible to reach Suq Al Juma in the West, the University in the South and Janzour in the East. Aware that their positive driving style ensures them a great freedom in the traffic of the capital, the drivers of Iveco nevertheless protect themselves from the accident by hanging amulets over their windshields. The most effective ones seem to be dried fish tails and a sort of marine cross made of wood and rope.
Another type of minivan exclusively serves the 7 miles of Gargarech street. The journey costs 1 LYD.

The Italian colonial quarter
- Place d'Algérie - The emblematic place of fascist colonial architecture and its gigantism. Guests can enjoy the archways of the former Social Security building, the central post office and the grand mosque.
- The Christian Cemetery - Between Souk Talat and Omar Mukhtar street, the Christian cemetery stretches around a large fascist monument to the glory of Italian colonization, partially restored by Italy. The vaults of several Italian settler families remain intact but empty, as the descendants of the deceased took their bodies when they were deported. The cemetery is still used for the Christian dead from all over the world. To the east of the cemetery, a British colonial military square houses the bodies of soldiers fallen during the Libyan campaign under an impeccable lawn.

Routes and Rounds Points
- The Roundabout of Death - The favorite place to go for the tripolar families, the huge roundabout of Souk Talat sees hundreds of people come to picnic there at night and weekend while the children play on the rides. Neither the smell of sulfur coming from a natural hot spring springing up nearby nor the requirement to perilously cross the rapid flow of cars seems to affect the popularity of the place.
