The former Morgan State Bear star has r… DeWayne Jackson, a former Morgan State Bear star, has signed a professional contract to play with Al-Muharraq of Bahrain’s Premier League for the 2023-24 season. Jackson, who has 128 games played in a MSU uniform, ranks third all-time in program history and has impressive stats in every category. He has managed to play on four different continents and was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention back in 2017 and 2019. Jackson was the 2010 MEAC Rookie of the Year and completed the regular season by scoring in double-figures 27 times in 30 games played, including a season-high 32 points against the Virginia Cavaliers. Morgan State University is a Carnegie-classified institution offering nearly 140 academic programs leading to degrees from the baccalaureate to the doctorate.

Al-Muharraq is one of the oldest sports clubs in the Arabian Peninsula.
Jackson, whose 128 games played in a MSU uniform ranks third all-time in program history, played most recently at Al Wehda in Saudi Arabian SBL league. In 14 games, he recorded very impressive stats: 21.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 5.3 apg, 2.6 spg and 1.0 bpg.
Jackson, 32, is a very experienced player who has managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America) in six different countries.
Jackson has played previously in Bulgaria (Beroe), Kosovo (Prishtina), Lebanon (Sagesse, Homentmen and Champville), United Arab Emirates (Al Sharjah), Libya (Ahly Tripoli) and The Basketball Tournament (HBC Sicklerville). Jackson won Libyan League championship title in 2021 and 2022. He was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention back in 2017 and 2019.
The scouts describe him the following way: Jackson is one of the fastest, strongest, and best ball handling wings in Europe. He has high stats in every category, and with his height, cannot be guarded 1-on-1 on perimeter. Jackson is also able to shoot from 3 consistently, and can defend at any position. Very similar style of game with Kevin Durant.
The 2013 All-MEAC First Team selection helped lead Morgan State to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament title game, it marked the Bears’ fifth appearance in seven years. He ranked 7th in the MEAC in scoring (13.8), led the team in steals (1.7 spg), and averaged 5.6 rebounds per game.
The Bowie product completed the regular season by scoring in double-figures 27 times in 30 games played, including a season-high 32 points against the Virginia Cavaliers. As a senior, he was also a member of the MEAC All-Tournament team and was selected the BoxToRow All-American second team.
Jackson, who was the 2010 MEAC Rookie of the Year, has the distinction of being the only player in school history to have the combination of over 1,500 points (1,596 – No. 5), 500 rebounds (563 – No. 15), 150 steals (173 – No. 4), and 150 assists (186).
