The meeting discussed the importance of resuming work and the ability of the GECOL to complete all its projects, including establishing new power stations and carrying out urgent and major maintenance, in addition to completing the connection of electrical stations via power transmission lines to the electrical network to meet the increasing demand for electrical energy throughout the country. Al-Tayeb said that the Chairman of GECOL, Mohamed Al-Mashay, met with the representative of Hyundai and the director of the project to establish the Tripoli West Steam Station, in the presence of the directors of the relevant departments in GECOL. The meeting discussed the importance of resuming work on the project, which is almost complete, and link it to the general network to meet the increasing demand for electricity in Libya.

Al-Tayeb pointed out the ability of the GECOL to complete all its projects, including establishing new power stations and carrying out urgent and major maintenance, in addition to completing the connection of electrical stations via power transmission lines to the electrical network to meet the increasing demand for electrical energy throughout the country, especially during the upcoming winter peak.

He stressed that the electricity sector achieved record production during the 2023 summer peak and clearly overcame the programmed load shedding that was adopted during the past years due to the shortage in electricity generation, especially during the summer and winter peaks. All GECOL projects have resumed being implemented by several foreign companies
